Location of the Indian Subcontinent

The mainland of the Indian subcontinent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan) extends:

  • Latitudinal extent: 8°4′ N to 37°6′ N
  • Longitudinal extent: 68°7′ E to 97°25′ E

The Tropic of Cancer (23½° N) passes almost through the middle of India.

From north to south, the subcontinent stretches for about 3,200 km, and from east to west for about 2,933 km.
